Effortlessly skirting between multiple genres and styles, Ricky Tyler’s ‘Small World’ houses his talents as a rapper, singer and songwriter. From the trap-infused single “Thirty K’s” to the soulful R&B of “Everything,” this debut album displays an artist already in command of an immensely varied skillset. Between explorations of pop melodies and harmonising over bass-laden soundbeds, what stands out on the project is Ricky Tyler’s lyrical prowess. The Playground Productions signee displays his gifted penmanship on the “Alter Ego (Interlude)” singing “you gon’ get the picture before I leave you with the caption“. It’s the lyrics of “Small World Intro” that capture the album’s exploration of life’s dualities, however… “you say there’s so much that you wanted… it’s not what you need, but it’s so lovely” Ricky declares.
